Having the ability to sniff ISUP messages on the c7 link "real-time" on the PGW2200 platform gives us the unique ability to troubleshoot ss7 interops very efficiently. In order for links to align there are 4 KEY parameters that need to match up over the c7 link. When Point Codes and NI are mismatched on ISUP side over the c7 link we are able to see what FAR END is passing to us and make the required adjustments to quickly progress to next level in turn-up process.
- #1 - Ensure we are correct TIMESLOT on T1 / E1.
- #2 - Confirmation of Point Codes. It is best to further breakdown ANSI or ITU Point Codes into binary and decimal to be sure conversion is accurate.
- #3 - Network Indicator.
- #4 - Variant.
Below is a sample Layer 3 screen-shot taken from the PGW2200 showing ITU Point Code in 3.8.3 format along with NI parameter. We are also able to capture IAM, ACM, ANM, REL and RLS as depicted below.
